About Us

Welcome to our blog. We hope you enjoy the images as much as we have enjoyed creating them. Our blog is updated often so visit regularly to check out new images and studio happenings.

Steve Nunes - I've been passionate about photography for a very long time....I was raised on photography, you see, my Dad has always been a great photographic artist; he introduced me to the art and shared his love for it with me. I was bitten by the photo bug at a really young age. I would stand on a footstool in Dad's home darkroom and watch the chemicals make the image appear on the paper. It was magic to me! For my twelfth Christmas, all I wanted was a 35mm camera....boy did I love that camera! Now, here's how the magic continued, when I would show my family and friends my work, I would look at their faces, and realized that my images could evoke an emotion, a chuckle, a smile, and even tears. To me that was powerful. I knew that photography and the preservation of a moment in a life was really important and special. As this "photo geek" continued through junior high school, and high school, I thought, could I possibly make a living doing something I truly love? It is all I've done for the past 29 years. All the moments and milestones, the babies, the families, and the weddings that I've captured with my lens have been a blessing. It's still magic to me.

Steve Henriques - Becoming a photographer was never an intention, but more of an accident for me. I was in Commercial Art with dreams of becoming a cartoonist or going into sign painting & design. My senior year is where it changed for me. While on the yearbook staff, I was asked to learn how to use a camera to help with the photography in and around the school. I have to say I wasn't happy with that because I enjoyed the layout and designing of the book. Boy did that change quickly. My love for photography grew in that year, and next thing I know, I am at the U.S. Navy School of Photography. The next few years were spent working in a Navy photo lab, learning all the ins, outs and what's of photography. I happened to work with a Master Photographer,Richard Ramsey, who mentored me and introduced me to the world of portrait and wedding photography. Upon my return home I ended up here at Imagemakers, where I worked for 17 years before becoming a partner 10 years ago. I come to work every day and get to work side by side with an outstanding photographer, and great friend of mine for over 27 years. I have a beautiful wife, and a great family. I have the pleasure of capturing some of the greatest moments in peoples lives and sharing my vision with them through my camera.

Awesome SENIOR Session!

Last night we shot an awesome senior session of Apponequet High senior, Kelsey Burton. She chose the “metro” session, a location shoot that really reflects the senior’s personality and individuality. The metro session has been very popular this season and we still have limited appointment availability, so give us a call and we’ll create something unique for you!

Summer Sessions!

The summer weather gets us out of the studio and shooting on location quite a bit. The past few weeks weather has been close to perfect. Shown below is Lisa and Mark, what a photogenic couple. We will be photographing their wedding next September (we can’t wait). Our beach sessions are usually reserved on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and are scheduled for 6:30/7:00 PM, when the light is really beautiful.

SENIOR PORTRAIT SEASON!

It’s “SENIOR SEASON” once again at Imagemakers. We have lots of sessions and products available for the 2008-2009 Senior Class, our most popular session this year seems to be  our “Metro Session”. We’ll take you to the downtown New Bedford historic district and use some interesting spots for unique and unusual backgrounds. It’s edgey, grungey. artsy, and very cool. The “Beach Bum” is still very popular too, we use either Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven or Fort Taber at the end of New Bedford’s south end beaches. This is a laid back, very chill type of session… blue jeans and barefoot. Because of the popularity of these location style sessions, availability is limited, so book early. Call the reservation line today at 508.996.3235 and ask for Kacie, she can answer all your SENIOR PORTRAIT questions and schedule your appointment. Please Note: Seniors and Parents! Even though your school may be under contract with a senior studio, you have the right to be photographed by any studio you choose. If your school dictate’s that you must be photographed by the school’s photographer in order to appear in the yearbook, it has to be provided to you as free service. The 09 senior pictured below this blog entry is Taylor. Taylor believe it or not is from Milford, New Hampshire. Tired of the same old contract session his school was offering, he decided to start looking at website galleries for high school seniors. We were really flattered that he chose Imagemakers after seeing our site, and made the two hour trip to New Bedford. A big thank you to Taylor and his Mom for making the trip! His metro session went great and we got some awesome images of him.

There were so many nice locations and it was a beautiful summer night. We can’t wait to actually do their wedding in November…they both are so natural and fun in front of the camera.
