Being a wedding photographer is a very responsible but rewarding job. A wedding photographer’s job begins the night before the wedding.
The Night Before The Wedding
In order for a photographer to ensure the photography job for a wedding goes on without a hitch, several planning measures must be put into place the night before. The last thing you want is to arrive late for the big event. It is a wise idea to add an hour or two onto your drive for unforeseen circumstances such as road closures, flat tires and traffic issues. A wedding photographer must also check all equipment to make sure it is in good working order, fully charged, lenses are clean and perhaps even bring backup equipment in case of technical issues. If you have to leave relatively early in the morning, set your alarm.
The Day of The Wedding
Most brides like to have the photographer attend the bridal prep. For this reason, it is important to arrive early to set up for the bridal prep. Photography of the bridal prep can take anywhere between 1-5 hours depending on the size of the bridal party. Once the bridal prep photoshoot has been completed, it is a good idea for the photographer to visit the venue where the ceremony will be held to look around and plan for set up.
The Ceremony
The photographer will capture the most intimate moments during the wedding ceremony, photographing the bridal party walking down the aisle and including photos of the newly married couple.
Following The Ceremony
Depending on what the bride and groom have requested, there may be a separate photoshoot involving the bridal party and immediate family members following the ceremony. The photographer will also be required to capture events at the reception such as speeches, cake cutting and the couple’s first dance.
